Day 64 – Star Trails

Olympus E-M10 Mark IV @ ISO 320, F3.5, 8.0s

Today I break the week and more long trend of college photos but it will be back mark my word. Well today I have taken something that has to be one of the best photos to date. I had just taken a few photos of the Big Dipper and I move onto the Bootes constellation. It had a few very bright stars which I felt were perfect for my set up. If you do not know about astrophotography there can be issues with taking photos as if your camera does not follow the rotation of earth you end up with star trails. Now if you are looking for star trails you can just take multiple of pictures over time and merge them in a specific program to get them smooth trails. In my case I have an Olympus camera that can do live composite photos which adds new light to the photo. It is great for light paintings and star trails. Over a 20 minute period I let the camera do its thing and got this end result. I could have gone on for much longer but it was getting pretty late. Now for the editing portion I sent it t Pixlemator photo where I increased the highlights and exposure but dipped the black points. The goal was to exude the star trails and I feel like I was able to achieve that.

Do let me know what your thoughts are and I will see you next week.
