Summer Recap

Summer’s lease Hath all too short a date

William Shakespeare

Well it has come to end of the summer. I actually have not updated this site in a while so let me try and recap what I have done and seen this semester.

The main thing that really occured was that I studied for the MCAT and started to transfer to Georgia Tech. It really did not leave me with much time to go around each weekend and take pictures but as I am done fingers crossed I can show off the pictures which I have taken up to this point.

Reading

The Accidental Time Machine

To begin with I have read a lot of web stories over the summer though I have actually only read 1 actual book and that is “The Accidental Time Machine” by Joe Haldeman. I picked it up at my local library as it seemed interesting and it actual was a pretty good book. I enjoyed the plot and how it was really close to actual science. I think it is called hard science fiction. If you are ever looking for a book to read it is a recommend from me.

Nature

Over the summer I have taken a multitude of photos of almost entirely on things in nature.

Flowers

Many of these flowers are just zinnias that are around my house. They are also a few other flowers though I do not know to much about them. As I was not going out to often many of the pictures of flowers that I took were those that were around me. They do look amazing. Some of them were already loosing petals when I was taking the pictures while others were just budding. In a way it just shows that continuous circle of life.

Trails / Hikes

Vogel State Park

Earlier in the summer my family and a few other friends went to Vogel state park. It was my first time visiting the place and the weather was perfect. The sun was shining splendidly and from the lake nearby a breeze was constant. The 3 pictures above came from parts of the trail that we went on. It was the smaller trail which was around 4 miles and it was a blast. There were so many small streams and with the trees it never felt like it was to hot on the trail.

In the middle of the trail there laid an outlook over much of the surrounding area. The 3 pictures came from 3 diffent aperatures on my phone and even with the variety it could not capture the beauty of the scene at the point. It was amazing being so high up with such clear skies. It really felt different compared to my bedroom at home. From that spot we continued the trail back down the mountain till we got back to the parking lot.

Last minute photo at the Lake

Right before we planned to head back home I quickly ran to the lake to maybe get more shoots of the scenery. As I got to the shore of the lake I saw that water was pretty easy to get to. With that I took a picture with my camera near the waters surface and pressed the shutter. With that I got this amazing photo where the sky was so blue and it reflected on the lake below. A pretty good tip I use when I am looking to take pictures is to find still water and from there flip you phone upside down or get your camera lens as close as you can to the water and try taking some pictures. If there is enough light and the water is no moving and clean you can get a mirror effect which looks pretty neat.

Trails

Now I do have to say there are many power lines in the photos above. I do have to say I enjoy taking photos of these structures as they just feel huge and also symmetrical. One of the power lines photo come from a trail that is at Suwanee park. The other 2 are some power lines that run next to my neighborhood. The last photo is just a big field that I pass whenever I go walking or running. Though compared to last year that has gone down considerably.

4th of July

Compared to other years we celebrated at home. I did get lucky a people were shooting fire works around us. I took some of pictures but compared to the years prior they were not as good but it was pretty nice to get some of the at least.

Other Events

These are just a bunch of other pictures that I took over the summer from a variety of moments. Some of them came when I was in Atlanta while a few others were taken at home. I have really not noticed how fast the summer has gone by and now with school starting within 2 weeks I will really miss this time. Aside from the memories of the summer I am hoping to actually start posting on this blog at least weekly or biweekly. Maybe I will try and add more tips that I have found on photography. Well I will see you next time.
